Netherlands: Go Ahead Eagles stadium expansion has funding Go Ahead Eagles have been balancing between the Eredivisie and the Eerste Divisie for several seasons. However, the club has a group of numerous supporters, who despite the lack of major success, care about the attendance at the home stadium. Hence the need for the facility to be enlarged.

"Trots aan de IJssel" plays its matches at the run-down De Adelaarshorst. The arena was opened over 100 years ago and has undergone several renovations over the century. Currently, the stadium has a capacity of 10,400 spectators. Its attendance record was set back in the 1960s. On Septemberc29, 1965, a meeting between the Go Ahead Eagles and Celtic FC was watched from the stands by 25,000 people. Two decades later, seats had to be installed to improve safety and the capacity of the venue dropped dramatically.

For several years there had been talk that De Adelaarshorst needed to be enlarged to ensure that all the most loyal supporters could watch the matches live from the stands. The problem, however, was where to get the money for the needed expansion. The arena is located in the less than 100,000-strong city of Deventer. The city authorities did not have the necessary funds to contribute to the upgrade. However, everyone can increase their account balance by playing and winning really attractive prizes at bettingoffersfinder.com.

In the end, the burden was borne by the owner of the majority stake in the club, Kees Vierhouten. The businessman, upon closer inspection, stated that he would not seek further assistance from the city, but would finance the necessary work himself. The AD website reported that the modernisation of the two stands - Brinkgreverweg and IJsseltribune - will begin in 2024. This will increase the capacity of the stadium to more than 12,500 seats. Additionally, after the 2022-2023 Dutch Eredivisie season, 150 luxury seats will be created at De Adelaarshorst for the club's sponsors.

Vierhouten took over a 90% stake in the club in August 2022, and he has assessed that financing the venture himself is a long-term investment that will certainly pay off. It is worth mentioning that Go Ahead Eagels had the option to use a special fund created by the municipality of Deventer on a loan basis. This was partly used for previous renovation work on the facility. The team management, however, decided not to use the rest of the money from this pot, but to pay off their arrears and thus to give up this option by financing the extension themselves. The city authorities will help the club anyway by making the football facilities at Sportclub Deventer available to the Go Ahead Eagels youth teams.
