NFL Alumni Partners With Cognitive Assessment App HitCheck, Citing Player Health

NFL Alumni has partnered with HitCheck, a mobile cognitive assessment tool that compares a user’s brain function after sustaining a head injury to their baseline results. HitCheck will now be available to members of all 39 NFL Alumni chapters across the U.S.

HitCheck uses a series of interactive games and tests to evaluate a user’s cognitive function, then decides whether they are able or unable to return to play based on the results. Each test measures a specific aspect of brain function such as memory, reaction time and balance.

“Player health is one of our main focuses at NFLA,” NFL Alumni president Bart Oates said in a statement. “We are excited to team up with a company like HitCheck and continue to promote player safety and wellness.”

In 2020, HitCheck partnered the University of Portland in an effort to limit concussions among the school’s athletes.
