5/3/2024 |  Ebbsfleet United given go-ahead for new stadium and community space (Stadia Magazine) English National League side Ebbsfleet United have announced that the local council has granted planning permission for its proposed Northfleet Harbourside development.
Situated next to the River Thames and connected with Northfleet’s historic harbour, the 50-acre Northfleet Harbourside development will incorporate a brand-new stadium, with a capacity for 8,000 people, as well as a mixed use development including 300,000ft2 of new shops, restaurants, bars, cafés and leisure spaces. There will be a new community retail centre and a 300-bed hotel, in addition to 150,000ft2 of commercial office space. There will also be 3,500 new homes, which will be a combination of both private and affordable housing.

5/3/2024 |  Populous and Oualalou + Choi to design largest football stadium in the world (Stadia Magazine) A consortium led by architects Oualalou + Choi and Populous has been awarded the contract to design the Grand Stade de Casablanca stadium in Morocco. With a capacity of 115,000 people, it is projected to be the largest football stadium in the world.
The contract was awarded following an international architectural design competition, which included proposals by firms Herzog & De Meuron, Zaha Hadid Architects, Foster + Partners, Cruz y Ortiz, GMP Architects and HPP Architects.

The newly opened Košice Futbalova Aréna have a capacity of more than 12,000 fans and will be one of the candidates to host home matches of the Slovak national team. The inauguration took place at the end of April 2024, but it was not the first match played in this stadium.  

5/2/2024 |  Under Armour Expands Soccer Presence, Signs Spain National Team Player Pedro Porro (Footwear News) Under Armour is pushing further into the soccer (or global football) category, and adding another top player to its growing roster of athletes.
The company on Thursday announced that it has signed Tottenham Hotspur and Spain National Team player Pedro Porro to its elite roster of soccer professionals. Porro has been playing in the brand’s recently launched Shadow Elite 2 boots throughout the last month and will continue to do so. When not playing, Porro will don additional Under Armour sportswear products.
