Kauffman Stadium is home to the Royals and is named after Ewing Kauffman who owned the team for many years. There is a 450-seat private Stadium Club on the club level that is open from May to October. The facility has a 322-foot-wide water spectacular in back of its outfield wall; this attraction is the largest privately funded fountain in the world. Kauffman Stadium also has a 12-story scoreboard shaped like a Royals' crest as well as a Sony JumboTron color video display board.
The Royals' Crown Seats are their most expensive and cost $14,985 per season. Located behind home plate, the price includes a buffet and free food during the games. In-seat wait service is also provided.
The team also has Dugout Suites seating 30 to 35 fans and prices begin at $1,800 per game.
The Royals are updating Kauffman Stadium. Some of options include an amphitheater, restaurants and bars behind right field for people to hang out before, during and after games. The new kids' area at the renovated stadium will include a Royals-themed carousel.
For 2009, Kauffman Stadium featured a new press box, new broadcast booths, and expanded suite options. Other work includes improvements to the concourse and field systems along with a new scoreboard. The new Kauffman will have twice as many concession stands, wider concourses and more bathrooms.
The most drastic changes will be behind the outfield walls. Survey results convinced the Royals that certain features of Kauffman are untouchable. The scoreboard's crown shape, the outfield fountains, and the white light standards behind the scoreboard will remain.
But the rest will look much, much different. Especially behind those outfield walls.
Bullpens may be stacked horizontally behind left field, and as many as 1,500 seats can be added around them. The seats would be called “fountain seats” and could pick up a corporate sponsor. The left field fountains don't spray, so the Royals can build the front row of those seats so that fans' feet will almost be in the water.
