8/1/2024 |  Biggest, most diverse fleet in Olympic sailing gets ready to hit the water (Associated Press (AP)) MARSEILLE, France (AP) — The biggest and most diverse fleet of the 2024 Olympics’ sailing events, the one-person dinghy, is scheduled to hit the water Thursday in sweltering Marseille.
The small, white-sailed boats — formerly known as lasers, now called ILCA 6 for women and ILCA 7 for men — go slower, sail deeper into the water and have a less spectacular design than many other vessels in the Olympic marina.
8/1/2024 |  Gainesville to Host American Canoe Association US Sprint National Championships (SportsTravel) The Greater Gainesville Sports Alliance in Georgia has announced the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club will host the American Canoe Association US Sprint National Championships from August 6–9, 2024, at Lake Lanier Olympic Park in Gainesville.
The four-day regatta is open to the public and will showcase canoe and kayak sprint athletes of all ages and skill levels, including events in multiple age groups for 200m, 500m, 1,000m and 5K distances. Hundreds of athletes will travel from across the United States to compete on the nine-lane course for national titles.
