12/18/2024 |  Denver to Host 2025 IFSC Speed Climbing World Cup (SportsTravel) Denver will host a Speed Climbing World Cup as part of an American doubleheader of events with Salt Lake City, announced the International Federation for Sport Climbing.
The Denver speed climbing event will be May 31–June 1, the first time the region has hosted an IFSC World Cup event. It comes after Salt Lake hosts a boulder event from May 23–25.
“We could not be more thrilled to partner with the IFSC to host a Climbing World Cup,” said Kourtny Garrett, president and chief executive officer of the Downtown Denver Partnership. “As an epicenter for outdoor recreation and the economic hub for the Rocky Mountain West, the opportunity to host an event like this is synonymous with our ethos. All of us in Denver are incredibly proud to welcome the IFSC, its athletes and a global audience to our city this summer.”
12/5/2024 |  Landlord Sues Crux Climbing for Climbing Wall Ownership (Athletic Business) A climbing gym in Austin, Texas, Crux Climbing, should be soaring to new heights after recently opening a brand new facility and expanding its business. Instead, it’s down in the weeds of lawsuits and legal filings.
One of Crux Climbing’s locations at 121 Pickle Road Austin, Texas, is a rented space. Back in 2023, Crux informed the building’s landlord that it would not be continuing to rent the space past 2024. The legal trouble came when the landlord, 3432 Pickle LLC, claimed that the climbing walls inside the gym belonged to the building and not Crux.

7/3/2024 |  Man arrested after scaling stadium roof at Euros (Stadia Magazine) Police have confirmed a man was arrested after he climbed onto the stadium roof during the Euro 2024 match between Germany and Denmark.
Footage has emerged of a masked man walking in the rafters of the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund after the match, before being taken away by armed police.
He was initially spotted in the roof while the game was temporarily suspended after a huge storm hit the area, with lightning striking the stadium.
7/2/2024 |  Helsinki to Host 2025 IFSC Youth World Championship (SportsTravel) The International Federation of Sport Climbing Youth World Championships is headed back to Europe for the 2025 edition as Helsinki will welcome hundreds of young climbers from July 28 through August 3 with competition split up at two venues.
The KiipeilyAreena Ristikko — one of the largest climbing gyms in Northern Europe — will host Lead and Speed competitions, while Boulder will take place at Helsingin Kiipeilykeskus, located about seven miles away. KiipeilyAreena Ristikko previously hosted the 2023 IFSC Youth European Championships in Lead.
