There are no luxury suites or club seats in Municipal Stadium. A new dugout and field were added in 1999.
The San Francisco Giants say their new two-year affiliation agreement in San Jose could be the last if improvements are not made to Municipal Stadium. City leaders have been pushing for ballpark funds, but to build a major league venue, not a Single-A facility.
The city had been trying to land the Oakland A’s, but that team is apparently headed to Fremont. With the issue apparently settled, it will be up to the local team to revive a minor league ballpark program.
The team spent $100,000 in 2004 on a new field and irrigation system. The city added another $85,000 for lighting. The city gets about $12,000 a year from its lease with the team.
A new or improved clubhouse tops the list of needed improvements. New offices, additional seats, a playground area and entertainment facilities are other amenities identified by HOK Sport+Venue+Event for the ballpark. Additional parking is also needed.
Fans buying season and weekend-season tickets become members of the MVP Club which gives them 10 percent off additional tickets, discounts on merchandise and special events. Club members can also trade in unused tickets for other games.
Companies can buy the "Park Packer" sponsorship package which provides them with 5,000 general admission tickets for 40 cents each. The team allows the company to resell the tickets as a fund-raiser, but the tickets cannot be sold on the street.
