Financing
Voters in July 2006 approved a $50 million bond issue by just 13 votes to build the ballpark and adjacent road improvements.
The team moved from Wichita in 2008 to a new ballpark built for the franchise. The team pays $350,000 in annual rent.
The franchise will have exclusive rights to revenues from parking, concessions, advertisements and naming rights, though Springdale would get 50 cents for each ticket sold above 300,000 annually. The city’s share of ticket revenue also will increase annually based on the Consumer Price Index. Springdale plans to put all rent money into a stadium improvement fund to pay for long-term upgrades to the ballpark.
The city believes the team will draw an average of 4,800 fans per game, giving Springdale at least $343,000 in stadium revenue annually. That level of attendance would put the team fifth among the Texas League’s eight teams.
The city can schedule 10 nonbaseball events at the stadium during the season. It will be responsible for the costs. The team is responsible for daily maintenance and operation of the stadium, including security and groundskeeping. Springdale is responsible for long term improvements to the ballpark, such as scoreboard and seat replacement. (Baseball. Facilities, Financial, MinorTeam, Professional Sports, Venue)
