A group of Waterford business owners built a 3,900-seat baseball stadium behind Summit Place Mall.
The group, known as Baseball Heroes of Oakland County, paid $1.7 million for 10 acres of property from Timana LLC, a Los Angeles-based company that owns the mall. Timana also will have a minority stake in the team.
The group built a $9-million park with artificial grass to host a new team in the Frontier League, a professional developmental league. Kalamazoo and Traverse City also have teams in the league. (Baseball. Facilities, Financial, IndTeam, Professional Sports, Venue)
