Financing
The $25 million ballpark was funded by the city. Pct. public: 100

The team's 15-year lease pays the city $200,000 per year, based on an average of 4,000 fans per game. The firm also pays $1.5 million toward construction of the city's $25 million ballpark.
One of the main points of contention in the lease has been no-show fans. The city wanted to be compensated for lost concession and other revenues. The team wanted the lease based on actual attendance and estimated that some 20 percent of those buying tickets would not attend. The final agreement was based on actual attendance plus 10 percent of ticket sales. Base rent was set at $200,000 per year and that will be adjusted annually for inflation. Naming rights revenue will be equally divided between the team and the city.
The lease locks the team into the city for 15 years and gives the city the option to buy the team if it contemplates a move. The city may approve the team's name, concession menu, prices and outside advertising. The city may use the stadium as it wishes outside of the team's schedule and the team may only use the stadium for five non-game days. The city insisted that the name Joliet be in the team's name and on merchandise.
Parking in city lots must be free during the games and the team must also provide concession and other services for city events at the stadium. The team may charge cost plus 10 percent for that service. The city will assume liability for damages caused during its events. (Baseball. Facilities, Financial, IndTeam, Professional Sports, Venue)
