The arena is part of a larger development which will earn $91 million in city incentives.
The $45 million arena is host to a Central Hockey League franchise.
The Venue will be surrounded by 1,200 new townhomes, condominiums and apartments. Retail and office space will also be developed. The city will create a tax incremental financing district to support the bonds needed to fund construction. New tax revenue from the development will repay the bonds along with some sales tax revenue.
The primary developer, Tim Wiens, will guarantee the bonds. The development group includes Tim Romani of ICON Venue group which has worked with the Pepsi Center and other venues. (Facilities, Financial, Ice Hockey, Professional Sports, Venue)
