The $36 million building was financed with a $28 million state grant, $6.1 million in general obligation bonds and $2 million in private funds. The bonds were backed by the city's sales tax. Pct. public: 100
The arena, formerly known as The Mark, was built in 1992, the facility has a waiting list for its 20 suites. The venue added six new club suites on the building's west end. Half of the suites, in an area known as The Truss Club, have already been leased at prices ranging from $9,000 to $15,000 annually. The suites seat 12 or 16 fans.
The suites will generate an estimated $72,000 a year for the building and will cost under $150,000 to build. The suites will be open for sports and in-the-round concert events. They will be dark during stage shows.
Another marketing feature is its "arena club" membership. Up to 1,000 people can pay an annual fee of $45 and be able to purchase up to eight tickets for facility events before they are available to the general public. Suite revenue goes to the facility; the teams do not share in that revenue. (Facilities, Financial, Ice Hockey, Professional Sports)
