Financing
Developers raised more than $20 million from local businesses. The rest of the funding for the $63 million venue came from an increase in the hotel-motel tax and a seat tax.
The $63 million Bi-Lo Sports and Entertainment Center opened in September 1998. The Grrrowl of the ECHL joined in 2000 and was later renamed the Road Warriors.
In addition to purchasing naming rights for the facility, the Bi-Lo grocery store participates in computerized ticketing for the facility. The center also hosts concerts, family shows and college basketball. (Facilities, Financial, Ice Hockey, Professional Sports)
