Financing
The City Council approved $73 million for construction of the 9,500-seat arena. The total cost will be $130 million with the council authorizing funds as the project moves forward. Pct. public: 100
The building is operated by the Anschutz Entertainment Group, which also runs the Staples Center in Los Angeles. AEG's deal with Ontario calls for the city to receive $1 million in cash per year, 75percent of all profit from events staged in the arena, and a minor-league hockey team as a primary sports tenant.
The deal also calls for an annual minimum of 120 event dates and 36 luxury suites in the arena. The arena is adjacent to The Piemonte, a mixed-use development that will include retail, office and living areas. (Facilities, Financial, Ice Hockey, Professional Sports)
