The $21.5 million Kauffman Stadium and the adjacent $21.5 million Arrowhead Stadium were built with money from a $43 million county bond issue. Pct. public: 100
Arrowhead Stadium is the home of the NFL Chiefs. Suite leasing is handled by the Jackson County Sports Authority and revenue is divided among the Authority and its tenants. In addition to the suites, there are 33 field boxes that hold 26 to 48 people and lease for $4,200 to $6,500, not including tickets. A private restaurant costs $3,750 to join and $800 in annual dues. Standing room tickets cost $45. The team has set a cap on season ticket sales at 73,000.
In April 2006, Jackson County voters approved a sales tax that financed $575 million in renovations for Arrowhead and Kauffman Stadium. In turn, the Chiefs and Royals contributed $100 million toward the renovations, will pay any cost overruns and are locked in through 2031.
The Chiefs also built a $30 million office facility next to its training center at the Truman Sports Complex. The 85,000-square-foot building will be funded by the team, but owned by Jackson County and leased back to the team. (Facilities, Financial, Football, NFL, Professional Sports)
