The Sound Tigers made their debut in this new arena in 2001. In addition to its regular offerings, the team also has a 12-seat loge box selling for $12,500 per year. The price includes only hockey tickets.
The Arena at Harbor Yard turned a profit in its first year, although not as large a surplus as projected. The 10,000-seat venue logged 120 events, including hockey, giving the city $205,000 in net earnings and $858,377 to the state in tax money.
With total crowds of 435,479, the arena took in $5.9 million in ticket sales during its first fiscal year which ran from October 2001 to August 2002. Projections called for 147 events and attendance of 765,000, but that was based on a 12-month period. (Facilities, Financial, Ice Hockey, Professional Sports)
