Jacksonville officials cut 3,500 seats from the new ballpark, but just after groundbreaking Mayor John Delaney decided to come up with the $4 million needed to build the 10,000-seat venue as originally planned.
Funding for the stadium comes from a $2.2 billion issue approved by voters in September 2000 that supported a variety of projects including the ballpark and a new arena.
Under the 10-year deal, the team will pay $93,000 in rent each year and will put a 50-cent surcharge on all tickets. The city will get that money, plus the $5 parking fee. The team will get all concession earnings. If naming rights are sold, that money will go to the city.
Team officials say in previous years concessions accounted for 36 percent to 40 percent of total revenue with advertising adding up to 18 percent and ticket sales totaling 29 percent.
