The Smokies threatened to leave the area unless they got a new ballpark, but in early 1999 they cut a deal with Sevier County for a new $19.4 million, 6,000-seat ballpark. For the deal to go through, the team sold 1,200 new season tickets for the 2000 season by March 1, 1999. That was an increase of 350 tickets over existing sales.
The ballpark features a 4,000-square-foot welcome center for tourists coming into the area. The ballpark includes a restaurant that is open all year.
The Porch, a picnic area, costs $375 to rent for up to 25 fans. (Baseball, Facilities, Financial, MinorLeagueVenueReport, Professional Sports)
