In 2003, new women's rest rooms and renovated men's rest rooms were added with a new picnic area down the right field line that included a playground for children. The playground is encased in a protective netting, allowing youngsters to play without fear of being struck by a foul ball.
The Indians signed a new seven-year lease for Grainger Stadium beginning in 2003. The team will pay $549,000 over the new term. The team previously paid $281,690 over five years.
The Indians get all concession and advertising revenue and can now sell naming rights to the venue. It pays the city $1 per fan when season attendance exceeds 145,000.
