Financing
The state of Kansas offered to make $48.5 million available up-front for the $414 million soccer and office park development. The stadium itself was priced at $185 million.
The state incentive plan calls for acceleration of $48.5 million out of a total of $85 million in state tax credits and cash offered to the project development team.
The team began the 2011 season with 10 games on the road while it awaited the completion of its new stadium.
The total project includes an 18-field, tournament-quality youth complex at Wyandotte County Park and an office complex to host Cerner Corp., a North Kansas City medical software and technology company.
Under the development agreement, Cerner is expected to employ 1,000 people at a new office complex by the end of 2012, growing to at least 4,000 new jobs by December 2016. The 600,000-square-foot office project is set for a 58-acre site near the Great Wolf Lodge.
In addition to suites, the team’s stadium has five clubs. They are the Field Club (Capacity: 400); Members Club (Capacity: 2,000); Stadium Club (Capacity: 1,000); Suite Level 1 Club Lounge; and Suite Level 2 Club Lounge. (Facilities, Financial, MLSMLS, Professional Sports)
