The ECHL Checkers are the only professional sports team playing at the arena. There are no luxury suites and no changes being made to the facility.
The lease calls for the team to pay $750 per game in rent, plus $3,500 to $4,500 in staff expenses and 10 percent of gross ticket sales above $30,000. The team previously paid just $5,250 per game in rent. The change allows staffing to change as attendance fluctuates. Concession and parking revenue will go to the Charlotte Coliseum Authority.
