The AHL Pirates are the only professional sports team playing at the center.
The Pirates signed a five-year extension in 2005 to play at the Cumberland County Civic Center, but it hopes to be in a new building before that deal expires.
The city and county are considering a new venue, but the lease will require the county to fund a new scoreboard and video screen for the current arena. Renovations will also be made to locker rooms.
Cumberland County is awaiting proposals from developers interested in building an arena. The county opened bids after Joseph Boulos, a local developer, offered one plan. That deal collapsed when the governor backed away on a promise to help fund the venue.
A 10,000-seat arena and 140,000-square-foot convention center will be paired with a 250-room hotel under the $250 million proposal Boulos offered.
The Pirates say a new building is vital to the team's future. The team has also been lobbied by potential buyers about moving to newer venues. Team officials say they have no desire to move and hope the new arena can guarantee them a future.
The Captain's Club provides seating for 20 fans and costs $650 per match. The price includes a $250 food and beverage credit. (Facilities, Financial, Ice HockeyMinor, Professional Sports)
