The Springfield Civic Center is home to the AHL Falcons.
The state approved $66 million in renovations to the 28-year-old Springfield Civic Center. The work was completed in 2004.
Improvements were made in the arena and $46 million went toward a convention center. Most of the improvements were for ice-making equipment at the arena.
In a letter from management to local citizens during the campaign to win arena improvements, the team gave details about the cost of operating an AHL franchise. The budget for sticks was put at $60,000 with $3,000 a year spent on pucks. Hockey tape will cost $5,000 per year. Printing costs were pegged at $60,000 and medical supplies were budgeted at $5,000. Travel costs for the team were $130,000 and the annual phone bill was $20,000 in 2001. (Facilities, Financial, Ice HockeyMinor, Professional Sports)
