Financing
The $62.5 million building is funded primarily by state sales tax rebates, although the improvements meant the city must back $6 million of the total cost. The deal uses the county's Public Facilities District to tap into state sales tax revenue. Annual sales tax money would provide $16 million to fund the $75 million debt for the arena and events center.
The hockey team has agreed to a 10-year lease on the building with options to renew for five years. The team and its games are expected to generate $745,000 a year for the building which has a total revenue projection of $6 million. (Canada, Facilities, Financial, Ice Hockey, Professional Sports)
