Bridgeview fronted the $70 million cost of the 20,000-seat soccer stadium.
The Chicago Fire opened a new stadium in suburban Bridgeview in 2006.
The team's operator, Anschutz Entertainment Group, was to pay $15 million toward the cost, but instead the firm will manage the stadium and pay the village $300,000 a year for its use. The team will get stadium revenue from stadium advertising and a percentage of any future Naming Rights sales. It will share concession, ticket, parking and luxury suite revenue with the village.
Village officials expect to get about $8 million a year in earnings and will use that to fund the expected debt service of $6.5 million to $7 million.
In 2012, the Fire a new luxury stadium club that would hold 150 fans paying $6,500 per year.
The luxury club will replace eight of the 48 suites at Toyota Park. Members have access to any exhibition games and concerts held at the venue. Packages range from $6,500 for a three-year membership up to $7,500 for one year.
The team is hoping to bring in upward of $1 million per year in annual memberships, which should more than offset revenue losses from the eight luxury suites.
Founded in 1997 as a Major League Soccer expansion team, the Fire played its home games at Soldier Field for nearly a decade. In 2006, the club moved into a $98 million soccer stadium built by the southwest suburb of Bridgeview. The stadium seats about 20,000. (Facilities, Financial, MLS, Professional Sports, Venue)
