Financing
In 2006, Pensacola voters approved a $70 million waterfront park improvement project that included a new ballpark.
Plans called for $40 million in Community Redevelopment Agency funds to be used to build the baseball/multi-use stadium, University of West Florida classrooms, a conference center and surface parking. Private funds and state grants totaling $30 million will be used to build a maritime museum, a band shell and amphitheater area and office, retail, restaurant and residential components of the development.
Blue Wahoos President Bruce Baldwin presented the Community Maritime Park Associates board with a check for $175,000 to cover the ballpark’s rent its entire first year.
The Community Maritime Park is laid out with walkways conducive to a large-scale festival. The area supports 10+ electrical pedestals – scattered for easy access, as well as water and sewer hook-ups for food and specialty vendors. This area can also be utilized in conjunction with the amphitheater and/or the exhibition grounds to support multi-activity events or multi-stage music festivals.
