Financing
The stadium cost $292 million to build including $71 million from the sale of seat licenses, $149.5 million from local hotel taxes and surplus funds and $70 million from the state.
Seat licenses
The team sold nearly all of its 57,000 seat licenses. Sales were sparked in early 2000 as fans sought out the licenses after the team's strong on-field performance.
PSLs cost $250 to $4,500 each. Twenty community businesses guaranteed the sale of 57,000 licenses by June 1999. Licenses generated $71 million of the venue's $292 million cost.
Buyers could buy their PSLs over three payments. The seats are not good for Super Bowls, but are good for playoffs.
The NFL Titans played its 1997-98 season at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, but dismal attendance led owner Bud Adams to move to Nashville's Vanderbilt University for the 1998-99 season. He also changed the name to the Titans from the Oilers, the name it held when it was in Houston. The team's lease at the Liberty Bowl ran through 1999 and it cost the team $1.2 million to get out.
Party suites at the stadium hold 12 to 20 people and lease for $480 to $900 per game. The price includes tickets. The Skyview Terrace provides theater-style seating with hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn and soda. The per-game price ranges from $800 per game for 25 guests to $3,200 per game for 100 guests. A special birthday suite holds 12 people and leases for $300 per game.
