The team's former ballpark was built in 1949, and included no luxury suites or club seats. That situation changed in 2005 with the opening of the new venue.
The $23 million ballpark which opened on April 14, 2005, also hosts the West Virginia State High School Baseball Championships, Big League Tournaments, Little League Tournaments, concerts, and many other community events.
Efforts to build a new ballpark were frustrated for more than a year by challenges to a state law that provided economic development grants, including a $12 million gift to Charleston. A West Virginia Supreme Court decision resolved those challenges and guaranteed the city funding. Additional money is being sought to complete funding for the project.
The venue also features the Mike Paterno Picnic Area, open for groups of 15 persons or more, at rates of $9.50 per person to $12.50 per person, depending upon the menu selected.
Its advertising signage runs from $1,100 for stadium concourse signs to $6,200 for scoreboard panels. Other signage includes a Tri-Vision scoreboard sign for $3,300, outfield billboards for $2,800, baseline boards for $1,700 per pair and ramp signs for $1,300.
