Financing
Financing for the $40.9 million ballpark includes $1.5 million a year from the Grizzlies under a 30-year lease. The city will take in $2.6 million a year from rent, parking and sales taxes. The city will also get revenues from events it sponsors. Another $400,000 a year will come from the city's Redevelopment Agency and a tax incremental financing district.
Previously known as the Phoenix Firebirds, the Grizzlies began the 1998-99 baseball season at Beiden Field in Fresno. The team's new ballpark opened in 2002.
The Grizzlies' ownership struggled with the city to get funding for the ballpark approved. In early 2001 the city gave final approval and work began.
The team pays $1.5 million annually in rent. The rent is paid at a rate of $125,000 per month. The team's ability to meet that expense depends heavily on its success in using the building during the off season.
The venue features a swimming pool that hosts 50 fans. It leases for $1,750 per game. Suites lease for $900 per game and include 14 tickets.
The 600 Club on the first base line provides seats with more leg room and in-seat wait service. (Baseball, Facilities, Minor League, Professional Sports, Venue)
