Financing
The ballpark was publicly financed.
Formerly the Thunder Bay Whiskey Jacks, the team moved to a new ballpark in this Chicago suburb in hopes of building greater attendance. The $16 million facility is owned by the city and the Schaumburg Park District. The venue has 16 luxury boxes and lawn seating for 2,000 additional fans. The team investors have agreed to a 15-year lease and will guarantee the venue's owners the greater of $200,000 a year or 10 percent of its gross revenue.
Alexian Brothers Health Care agreed to pay $2 million over 10 years for naming rights to the ballpark. The venue owners receive 80 percent of the earnings. Alexian Field was named for the company that owns hospitals, medical centers and other properties in the Chicago area. The deal expired in 2009.
Fans can buy annual access to the venue's Schaumburg Club for $1,999. (Baseball, Facilities, Minor League, Professional Sports, Venue)
