The venue was the home of the UHL Icemen until the 2002 season when the AHL fielded the Senators. New York promised $1.5 million for arena upgrades for the AHL franchise.
In 2012, the Broome County Legislature approved a five-year lease agreement with the Senators through the conclusion of the 2016-17 American Hockey League season.
Binghamton is among the smallest markets to host one of the 30 franchises the AHL, the highest level of minor league hockey in North America.
Under the terms of the agreement the team will pay the county $2,000 rent for every preseason, playoff and regular season game.
Additionally, the team will pay 12.5 cents per ticket sold if audited financial statements show the B-Sens earned more than $25,000 of net income the previous year. If the team earned over $50,000, they will pay 25 cents per ticket sold.
There are no luxury suites in the current facility; the county is considering adding 500 seats as well as six luxury suites. For 2000 the county did extensive upgrades on the building's exterior.
The naming rights deal includes several five-year extensions at the option of the buyer. (Facilities, Ice Hockey, Professional Sports, Venue)
