Financing
The entire project cost about C$61 million, with the city of Moose Jaw paying C$34.5 million. Provincial and federal governments paid C$8 million and community fundraising committed to C$10 million.
Located in southwestern Saskatchewan, Mosaic Place opened in August 2011, the 210,000 square-foot facility features an entertainment/sports bowl, an 8 sheet curling club, banquet & meeting rooms, plus retail.
The venue was the second effort to bringing an improved arena to the city. In May 2005, Nustadia Recreation Inc. was hired to complete a business plan for a new Multiplex and a potential renovation to the Civic Centre to meet WHL Standards. The report called for a 4,500-seat arena with the full project costing CAN$36.3 million based on the 2005 estimate. The research suggested the city make a CAN$10 million investment and that the City of Moose Jaw commit matching dollar for dollar all private and corporate donations up to an additional $5 million.
