Financing
The $100 million project is funded by private investors and revenue bonds repaid from ballpark earnings. The ballpark itself is estimated at $20 million.
The Double-A New Haven Ravens moved to the city in 2004. The Ravens, renamed the Fisher Cats, played at Yale Field, one of the older stadiums in the Eastern League.
The Ravens sought $2.5 million in state money to help refurbish their circa 1927 ballpark. The work primarily was to update the entryway, expand concession areas with outdoor kiosks and expand the retail store. New Haven offered the team a $54,000 tax break to help its finances. The lease with Yale University on its 6,200-seat stadium has more than 40 years left on it.
Manchester built a new ballpark and other development at Singer Park. The team played at Gill Stadium in 2004 and moved into a new 7,700-seat ballpark in 2005. The renovation cost $4.5 million, of which the team paid $1 million. The city funded the rest of the renovation and ballpark construction. The team pays $750,000 in annual rent.
