Financing
The CAN$22 million building was bought and paid for by the city. It opened debt-free. The city, at the time, had been led by an 81-year-old mayor who made it her policy to keep the city fiscally sound. When it came time to build an arena, the city could simply write a check.
Mississauga is one of the largest cities in Canada and was able to build the arena out of existing funds. Naming rights were purchased by Hershey Canada. (Facilities, Ice Hockey, Minor League, Professional Sports, Venue)
