The arena building was initially estimated to cost $450 million. The City of Edmonton was to pay $125 million, the Katz Group of Companies was to contribute $100 million, and $125 million was to come from a user-paid facility fee. The remaining money was expected to come from the province or federal agencies. Estimated cost then increased substantially during continued discussions to a current estimated price of $480 million for the arena, and $604.5 million for the entire project.
The Oilers moved into their new Rogers Place arena in 2016.
The venue offers 1,200 TV screens, including game coverage in all suites, clubs and concourses, the largest true high-definition center ice scoreboard in the NHL, aWiFi in all clubs, concourses and the seating bowl, three retail stores and numerous retail kiosks. It is the first LEED Silver certified NHL facility in Canada.
The venue includes 24 theater boxes ($23,000), 300 Loge Ledge Seats ($15,750) and 136 Loge Tables. There are 300 Zone Seats, 500 drink rail seats ($2,600-$9,925), 2 food-inclusive clubs ($10,625 to $11,075) and one restaurant. (Facilities, Ice Hockey, NHL, Professional Sports, Venue)
